On September 14, 2026, Etugen University hosted a delegation led by N. Yu. Sandakova, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Buryatia, and A. V. Damdinov, Rector of the Dorzhi Banzarov Buryat State University.
The delegates were received by Academician S. Nyamzagd, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Rector B. Bat-Sereedene. During the meeting, both institutions presented their respective academic programs, research initiatives, and international partnerships, followed by an exchange of views on opportunities to foster practical cooperation across multiple fields.
Representing Etugen University, L. Gurbazar, Professor and Manager of the Research, Innovation, and Foreign Relations Department, and representing Buryat State University, G. B. Ariuna, Advisor to the Rector on Cooperation with Mongolia, attended the meeting.
The sides agreed to cooperate on implementing a joint degree program (3+3) in Traditional Medicine, promoting student, faculty, and researcher exchanges, executing joint scientific research projects, and involving students in short-term winter and summer training, internship, and study tour programs.
Furthermore, the sides expressed their mutual interest in developing long-term, sustainable cooperation by identifying similar and complementary academic program areas, fostering collaboration between relevant constituent schools and departments, and exploring opportunities to organize joint research, seminars, and training for faculty and researchers.
A. V. Damdinov, Rector of Buryat State University named after Dorzhi Banzarov, reported that Buryat State University, in collaboration with the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University) in Moscow, has implemented a joint dual-degree program and enrolled its first cohort of students in the "Artificial Intelligence Systems" major. He also shared that, based on Buryat State University's facilities, a training campus was opened to execute the "School 21" (Школа 21) digital technology educational program—an initiative by Sberbank of the Russian Federation—and that the initial selection process for the program is currently underway.
The "School 21" program is recognized as one of Russia's top projects for training specialists in programming, information technology, and artificial intelligence.
