MAIN LIBRARY AND BRANCHES

According to the development strategy, the following has been created within the framework of the goal of "enriching the library fund with foreign professional books, journals, textbooks, scientific databases, and periodicals, and developing an electronic library by increasing the availability and quality of library services": to serve as an information base for researchers and students for training and scientific work, to provide outstanding library services for the advancement of knowledge and professional education, to provide students with equal and open information, to provide opportunities for self-study, to establish an advanced and creative enabling environment for learning and research based on technologies that deliver modern innovative services.

All library branches are dedicated to scientific literature, textbooks, foreign bookstocks, and periodicals. There is a section for homework and book collection. Library services are open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm, with extended hours during graduation and semester exams.  Additionally, it allows students to take books out of the classroom and bring them home. There are separate reading rooms for graduate and doctoral students.

In Building №2, Etugen University Central Library maintains three reading rooms with 200 seats each and a total area of 450 m2. It went into operation in 2015. Students can choose books of their choice, and the library has a locker room with touchscreen doors.  The main library was refurbished for the 2021-2022 academic year, with 50 additional seats and 60 outlets installed on 30 tables to allow students to use their laptops and mobile phones. The lighting has been fully replaced, the ceiling and walls have been fixed, the number of cameras has been increased, and a modern air conditioning system has been installed.

The branch library is located in the Building №5 and started operations in 2020. There are 3 reading rooms with an area of 300 m2, 105 seats, modern lighting, sensor doors, cameras, electronic clocks, and air conditioning systems. This area specializes in classroom reading services for medical, pharmaceutical, biomedical, traditional medicine, primary education, and preschool education textbooks. Touch sensor panels and smart TVs have been installed in two VIP rooms of the department, allowing teamwork students to get important news and information from the Internet while still watching their online classes.

Access to fundamental textbooks, manuals, and scholarly publications:

The Etugen University library has 26,098 printed materials of 7,757 types, including 19,288 books and 4,717 types in Mongolian, 2,945 books of 1,278 types in English, 1,501 books of 1,369 types in Russian, 207 researchers with 222 articles of bachelor's, master’s, doctor of sciences works, and 2,339 domestic and foreign journals in 188 areas.

Library Software

In 2014, the LIB4U.OPAC library software was purchased and introduced to its operations. The software has improved the quality of library accounting and increased the service speed by eliminating manual labor and creating reports, conducting inventories, readers registering in the electronic register, barcoding books and publications, and automating library operations. When the software was upgraded, the library’s corresponding module was purchased and used. Due to the global pandemic shutdown in 2019, distance learning was implemented, and students were required to read e-books, therefore the Lib4U.net cloud technology was introduced in January 2021, allowing readers to access web version materials online.

Library Services

The Etugen University Library has two branches and is open from Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm. When faculty and students use library services, they should open electronic cards and familiarize themselves with the library’s policies. In addition, in recent years, traditional "reader" library activities have been automated, and an electronic book fund has been created in order to create and develop a modern library that is available from anywhere, at any time, without book number constraints.
